Peter Phuong was born in Ha Giang — long before the Loop became famous, long before these winding roads appeared on any traveler's bucket list. He grew up watching the limestone mountains change color with the seasons, riding the Happiness Road before it had a name that foreigners knew.

13 Years — Healthcare & Business

Government official → Entrepreneur

Peter spent 13 years as a government official in healthcare — a stable career, a respectable life. But the pull of building something of his own was stronger. He left to co-found a Thaco automotive dealership (one of Vietnam's largest automotive groups), then ran a food and hospitality business. Every role deepened his understanding of service, of what customers truly need, and of how trust is earned.

2020–2022 — COVID

A setback that became a reset

When COVID hit, the hospitality industry collapsed. Peter lost the restaurant business, restructured his finances, and in 2022 made a decision that changed everything: he would start over in the one industry he believed in most — tourism — and he would do it in the place he knew best: Ha Giang.

2022–2023 — Learning

Student before founder

He began by teaching himself English on a language app every morning. He joined other tour companies as a support crew member — not as a boss, but as a student — learning operations, guest management, and the fine details that separate a good trip from an unforgettable one. He walked the Loop again and again, this time through the eyes of an international traveler.

2025 — Present

HagiangTrips is born

With a fully licensed company (Int. Tour License No. 08-0021/2026/CDLQGVN-GP LHQT), a team of local Easy Riders, and a mission to show the world the Ha Giang that Peter grew up in — HagiangTrips opened its doors. Today, 1,000+ travelers later, the mission is the same: safe journeys, real connections, and a positive impact on the local community.

The Loop passes through restricted border zones. A valid permit is legally required. Many operators skip it to cut costs. We handle every permit, every time, at no extra charge.
